- MANDATE OF APPOINTING OFFICERS OF PARLIAMENT
Section 154 of the Constitution stipulates that the Clerk of Parliament and other Staff of Parliament are appointed on terms of service approved from time to time by the Committee on Standing Rules and Orders and are Public Officers, distinct and separate from the Civil Service.
The Parliament of Zimbabwe (PoZ) is looking for versatile and dynamic GRADUATE INTERNS to join the office of the Counsel to Parliament. This opportunity is for a fixed one- year contract subject to the provisions of the Officers of Parliament (Terms of Service) Regulations, 2018.
Applications are, therefore, invited from suitably qualified recent graduates with the following qualifications and attributes: –

LOCATION : COUNSEL TO PARLIAMENT’S OFFICE
REPORTS TO : ASSISTANT COUNSEL
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in bill analysis and bill digest as soon as the bill is gazetted;
- Assisting in compilation of statutory instruments digests and analysis as soon as the bill is gazetted;
- Assisting in research on bills;
- Assisting with drafting of amendments during the Committee Stage for Members of Parliament;
- Assist in legal research for legal opinions;
- Assist in annotations and updating statutes;
- Assist in minute taking of meetings when necessary;
- Assist in indexing and filing of all gazetted Bills, Acts and Statutory Instruments;
- Carry out any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
- A Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) with a reputable University with a degree class 2.1 or better;
- Effective in the use of computer systems for generation of professional documents, scheduling of meetings and database management.
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
- High level of integrity and professional ethics
- Good organizational skills and detail – oriented
- Good team player
