ANNOUNCEMENTS BY THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT

NON-ADVERSE REPORT RECEIVED FROM THE PARLIAMENTARY LEGAL COMMITTEE

THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT: I have to inform the Senate that I have received a Non-Adverse Report from the Parliamentary Legal Committee on the General Notices gazetted during the month of July, 2015 and for Statutory Instruments gazetted during the month of September, 2015.

2015 PRE-BUDGET SEMINAR

THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT: I wish to invite all senators to the 2015 Pre-Budget Seminar that will be held from the 30th of October to the 3rd of November, 2015 at Elephant Hills, Victoria Falls. The seminar is an important annual Parliament activity meant to enhance the contribution by Members of Parliament to the process of budget formulation and prioritization ahead of the presentation of the 2016 National Budget Statement and the passage by Parliament of the Finance and Appropriation Bills. Departure for Victoria Falls will be on Friday, 30th October, 2015.

To ensure adequate preparations and logistical arrangements, senators are required to confirm their attendance with the Public Relations Department. Officers from the department will be stationed at the Members’ Dining Lounge from 1400hrs today to facilitate registration for the seminar by senators. Confirmations close on Friday 16th October, 2015. Only confirmed members will be catered for. All hon. senators from Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo, Masvingo and Midlands are urged to drive to Victoria Falls. Charter and scheduled flights will be reserved for hon. senators from the remaining five provinces. The programme will be circulated to all senators in due course.

LEAVE TO MOVE RESTORATION OF THE ZIMBABWE GENDER COMMISSION BILL (H.B.8A, 2014) ON THE ORDER PAPER

THE MINISTER OF WOMEN’S AFFAIRS, GENDER AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (MS CHIKWINYA): Thank you Mr. President, I seek leave of the Senate to move that the Gender Commission Bill, [H. B. 8A, 2014] which was superceded by the end of the Second Session of the Eighth Parliament be restored on the Order Paper at the stage at which it had reached.
