ANNOUNCEMENTS BY MADAM PRESIDENT

OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE RESEARCH AND INTELLECTUAL EXPO 2012

MADAM PRESIDENT: I have to inform the Senate that the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education is inviting hon. senators to the official opening of the research and intellectual expo 2012 on Wednesday, 5th September 2012 at the Harare International Conference Centre at 0900 hours. Invitation cards have been placed in individual member's pigeon holes. The expo will be officially opened by His Excellency, the President, Cde. Robert Gabriel Mugabe. For more information, please contact Public Relations department, Room No. 4, 3rd floor, Pax House.

BREAKFAST MEETING ON THE WOMEN'S COUNCIL BILL

MADAM PRESIDENT: I have to inform the Senate that the Secretary for Women's Affairs Gender and Community Development is inviting all Members of Parliament to a breakfast meeting on the Women's Council Bill on Wednesday, 12th September, 2012 at the Pandhari Lodge starting at 0830 hours. The purpose of the meeting would be to get input from stakeholders for the final draft of the Women's Council Bill.

SWITCHING OFF OF CELLPHONES

MADAM PRESIDENT: I also have to inform hon. senators to switch off their cellphones or put them on silence.

WORKSHOP ON CONFLICT RESOLUTION

MADAM PRESIDENT: The Women in Politics Support Unit (WIPSU) and Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association (ZWLA) is inviting all Members of the Zimbabwe Women Parliamentary Caucus to a workshop on conflict resolution and constitutional strategic engagement to be held from the 13th to 17th of September 2012 at Montclair Resort in Nyanga. The bus leaves Parliament at 1400hours on the 13th of September, 2012.

NESTLE ZIMBABWE ANNUAL OPEN DAY

MADAM PRESIDENT: Further, Nestle Zimbabwe is inviting all Members of the Zimbabwe Women Parliamentary Caucus to their annual Open Day on Friday the 7th of September at 0900 am. This will be held at Nestle Zimbabwe factory in Southerton. The bus will leave Parliament building at 0830 hours.

Hon. senators, due to a matter beyond our control, it looks like we have no business today.

On the motion of THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF JUSTICE AND LEGAL AFFAIRS, the Senate adjourned at Fourteen Minutes to Three O'clock p.m. until Tuesday, 9th October, 2012.
