  1. The President of the Senate informed the Senate that Hon. Senators were invited to a finger luncheon on Wednesday 1st April 2009, at ZIMOCO, starting at 1130 hours.

  1. The President of the Senate informed the House that all Hon. Senators were invited to a half-day workshop on the role and functions of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, at the Rainbow Towers on Thursday 2nd April 2009.

  1. The President informed the Senate that Hon. Senators from the Harare

Metropolitan Province were invited to a public meeting organized by the Community Radio Harare (CORAH) at the New Ambassador Hotel on Thursday 2nd April from 1730 hours to 1900 hours.

May it please you, your Excellency the President:

We the Members of Parliament of Zimbabwe, desire to express our loyalty to Zimbabwe and beg leave to offer our respectful thanks for the speech, which you have been pleased to address to Parliament- The Minister of Defence

On the motion of the Minister of State for National Security in the President’s Office:  Debate adjourned until tomorrow.

  1. Adjourned debate on motion on Zimbabweans living in the diaspora (adjourned

25th March 2009 - Governor for Matabeleland North)

         Question again proposed: That this House-

CONCERNED WITH the absence of a concrete programme of action and government policy to strategically harness the expertise of Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora.

FURTHER CONCERNED by the apparent lack of a holistic and systematic campaign to compile a register of all Zimbabweans living in the diaspora.

NOTING that Zimbabweans living in the diaspora are capable of positively contributing to the socio-economic as well as political reconstruction of Zimbabwe by the all inclusive government.

TAKES this opportunity to call upon all Zimbabweans living in the Diaspora to liase with the various diplomatic missions of Zimbabwe in the countries where they are presently residing to enable a register of diasporans to be complied.

FURTHER taking this opportunity to express its appreciation for the role that Zimbabweans living in the diaspora have played and continue to play by remitting money and other resources to their families and relatives in Zimbabwe.

NOW, THEREFORE, RESOLVES;

That this House calls upon the all-inclusive Government to formulate a concrete and strategic policy aimed at tapping and harnessing the expertise and resources of Zimbabweans living in the diaspora as part of the all-inclusive Government’s efforts to resuscitate the country’s economy – Hon. Senator Gutu.

On the motion of the Minister of State for National Security in the President’s Office:  Debate adjourned until tomorrow.
