  1. The President of the Senate informed the Senate of the death of Hon. Sen. Thokozile Mathuthu, Senator for Matebeleland North Province on Monday, 13th August, 2018 and invited Hon. Senators to observe a minute of silence in honour of the late Hon. Senator.

  1. The President of the Senate also informed the Senate of the resignation of Hon. Sen. Obert Mpofu, Senator for Matabeleland North Province.

  1. The President of the Senate further informed the Senate that the Women’s Alliance of Business Association in Zimbabwe was inviting all Women Parliamentarians to a breakfast meeting on Thursday, 27th September 2018 at 0730 hours at the Rainbow Towers Hotel.

  1. The President of Senate informed the Senate that all Ministers and Deputy Ministers were invited to an Induction Seminar on Parliamentary Business on Thursday, 27th September, 2018 at 0830 hours in the Senate Chamber at Parliament Building.

  1. Sen. S. K. Moyo, seconded by Hon. Sen. Mbowa, moved: That a respectful address be presented to the President of Zimbabwe as follows:-

May it please you, your Excellency the President:

 We, the Members of Parliament of Zimbabwe, desire to express our loyalty to Zimbabwe and beg leave to offer our respectful thanks for the speech, which you have been pleased to address to Parliament.

On the motion of Hon. Sen. S. K. Moyo, seconded by Hon. Sen. Mohadi: Debate adjourned until tomorrow.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Justice, Legal and

Parliamentary  Affairs to state measures being implemented to end child

marriages.

*2.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Justice, Legal and

Parliamentary  Affairs to-

a) state measures being implemented to raise awareness of marriage laws,

    particularly two men in rural areas; and

  1. b) provide statistics of court cases relating to violation of provisions of the Marriage Act [Chapter 5:11].

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Justice, Legal and

Parliamentary  Affairs to state measures being taken to encourage people to

report cases of incest.

*4.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Justice, Legal and

Parliamentary  Affairs to explain the Ministry’s role in reunification and

reintegration of convicts with their  families upon release from prison.

*5.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Women Affairs,

Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development to explain the

national achievements and failures of the        Beijing Platform of 1995.

*6.  HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Women Affairs,

Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development  to advise on

government policy  regarding small and                 medium enterprises that have

been affected by veld fires.

*7.

HON. SEN CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Public Service, Labour

and Social Welfare to explain measures being implemented to end the

stigmatisation of children with disability.

*8.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Information

Communication                           Technology and Courier Services to clarify the

Ministry’s role in the computerisation of government departments,  for

instance, the Crime Intelligence Department (CID) which still uses

typewriters.

*9.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Finance and Economic

Development to inform the Senate whether there are strategies in place      to

economically empower women who  constitute the majority of the population.

*10.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Health and Child Care to

explain-

a)  the causes of cancer and whether it is hereditary; and

b) measures being implemented by government to control it.

*11.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Health and Child Care to

inform the Senate of the current maternal mortality rate and measures

being implemented to reduce it.

*12.

HON. SEN. CHIMBUDZI A.: To ask the Minister of Transport and

Infrastructural  Development to explain measures being implemented to ease

traffic congestion during peak hours in city centres.
