Introduction

The Transport department is part of the Human Resources and Administration Directorate. It is headed by a Transport Manager, with 28 subordinates comprising of bus drivers, chauffeurs to Presiding Officers and pool drivers. The Transport Manager reports to the Chief Director Human Resources and Administration.

Purpose

The Department has many functions which include but not limited to the following main functions:

  • The department facilitates maintenance of Parliament of Zimbabwe vehicles which include personal issue vehicles for Presiding Officers, these are The Honourable Speaker, The Honourable President of Senate and their deputies. Also maintenance of vehicles for The Hon Chief Whip, President of the Chiefs Council, Condition of service and pool vehicles for Parliament Administrative duties.
  • Providing ground transport to Members of Parliament and staff travelling on Parliament Business.
  • Facilitates transport for all Parliament of Zimbabwe programs both for national and international delegates and Issuing of fuel for all Administrative functions.
  • To enable the department to effectively and efficiently carry out its mandate, Administration of Parliament of Zimbabwe has a 44 seater luxury coach, a 25 seater mini bus and a fleet of twin cabs, hatchbacks and single cabs. Parliament also has 2 x 63 seater Golden Dragon buses .
