The Minister of Rural Housing and Social Amenities, on behalf of the Minister of Energy and Power Development, presented a Bill to provide for the establishment of the Petroleum Regulatory Authority and its functions and management; to provide for the licensing and regulation of the petroleum industry; and to provide for matters incidental to or connected with the foregoing – Petroleum Bill (H. B 5, 2006).

 

            Bill read the first time.  Referred to the Parliamentary Legal Committee.

 

  1. The Minister of Rural Housing and Social Amenities, on behalf of the Minister Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, presented a Bill to make further provisions for the Judicial Service Commission; to constitute the Judicial Service; to establish the Judicial Service Committees and to provide for their functions; to provide for the administration and the conditions of service of members of the Judicial Service employed in the Supreme Court and the High Court and other courts subordinate to the Supreme Court and the High Court, and the Office of the Ombudsman; to provide for the transfer of

persons from the Public Service to the Judicial Service; to make consequential amendments to various Acts; and to provide for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing -  Judicial Service Bill (H.B. 7, 2006). 

 

            Bill read the first time.  Referred to the Parliamentary Legal Committee.

 

 

  1. The Minister of Rural Housing and Social Amenities, on behalf of the Minister of Transport and Communications, presented a Bill to provide for the lawful interception and monitoring of certain communications in the course of their transmission through a telecommunication, postal or any other related service or system in Zimbabwe; to provide for the establishment of a monitoring centre; and to provide for any other matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing - Interception of Communications Bill (H.B. 4, 2006)

 

            Bill read the first time.  Referred to the Parliamentary Legal Committee.

 

6          The Minister of Rural Housing and Social Amenities, on behalf of the    Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, presented a Bill to amend the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act [Chapter 8:07); and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto - Criminal Procedure and Evidence Amendment Bill (H.B. 3, 2006).

 

            Bill read the first time.  Referred to the Parliamentary Legal Committee.

 

  1. The Minister of Rural Housing and Social Amenities, on behalf of the Minister of State for National Security Lands, Land Reform and Resettlement in the President’s Office, presented a Bill to make certain provisions that are consequential to the enactment of section 16B of the Constitution; to amend the Land Acquisition Act [Chapter 20:10]; to repeal the Rural Land Occupiers (Protection from Eviction) Act [Chapter 20:26] (No. 13 of 2001): and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto - Gazetted Land (Consequential Provisions) Bill (H.B. 8, 2006).

 

           Bill read the first time.  Referred to the Parliamentary Legal Committee.

 

  1. The Minister of Rural Housing and Social Amenities, on behalf of the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, presented a  Bill to make for the protection of and relief to victims of domestic violence and to provide for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing - Domestic Violence Bill (H.B. 9, 2006).

 

            Bill read the first time.  Referred to the Parliamentary Legal Committee.
