  1. The Deputy President informed the Senate that there would be a Pre-Budget Briefing Seminar on Monday, 17tht October, 2022 at the Rainbow Towers, Harare in the Main Auditorium.

In addition, the Deputy President informed the Senate of the change of dates and venue for the Pre-Budget Seminar. The new dates were 21-24 October, 2022 at the Rainbow Hotel, Harare in the main Auditorium. All Members of Parliament were invited to the two events and requested to confirm their attendance with the Public Relations Department.

  1. Sen. Mathuthu, seconded by Hon. Sen. Chirongoma, moved: That Notice of Motion No. 1, for today, stands over until Order of the Day No. 7 has been disposed of.

              representing Disabled Persons, Hon. Sen. Watson Khupe on Saturday, 16 July 2022;

              rendered to Parliament and the Nation at large;

RESOLVES that its profound sympathies be conveyed to the Khupe family, relatives and the entire Nation for the loss of the Hon. Senator- Hon. Sen. Manyau

            Question again proposed:  NOTING with admiration that dams are an essential

             component/driver for economic development;

 

APPLAUDING the Government for the momentum gained towards changing people’s economic status, through the provision of opportunities in farming and increased access to potable water by encouraging construction of water bodies

 

CONCERNED at the low pace in completion of national dams which have the potential to transform people’s livelihoods countrywide;

 

FURTHER CONCERNED that some uncompleted dams may end up as white elephants thereby disadvantaging some communities in terms of economic empowerment;

 

NOW THEREFORE calls upon the government to provide adequate funds for the completion of all outstanding dam construction projects countrywide, among them Mirror Dam in Chipinge. - Hon. Sen. Mabika
