  1. Paper laid upon the Table-

 

The Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development

 

SADC Protocol on Gender and Development.

 

  1. The Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development moved: THAT WHEREAS, SUBSECTION (1) of Section 111B of the Constitution of Zimbabwe provides that any convention, treaty or agreement acceded to, concluded or executed by or under the authority of the President and with one or more states or Governments.

 

AND WHEREAS, the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development was concluded by the Member States on 17August 2008, at Johannesburg, South Africa.

 

 

AND WHEREAS, the entry into force of the aforesaid protocol is subject to ratification by the signatory Member States in accordance with their respective constitutional procedures;

 

NOW THEREFORE, in terms of subsection (1) of 111B of the Constitution, this   House resolves that the aforesaid protocol be and is hereby approved.
